Last Sunday my bees were flying. Today it is snowing. Hopefully the girls are all clustered snugly around their queen and staying warm for the duration.
The pictures on FaceBook of the fires in Australia, of the burning beehives were heartbreaking. And knowing that acres of Manuka trees were burned as well, which will take many years to recover this valuable source of honey is just devastating for this country. Also the earthquakes in Puerto Rico where a large source of income comes from honey just makes me so sad. It makes me renew my desire to continue maintaining my hives as difficult as it is with my arthritis. But thanks to the willingness of club members to give me a hand, I feel I have to do what I can to keep my apiary helping our planet.
